50 isn't old it is only half way old. you can seek out groups that keep you active and mentaly stimulated.
this would be a great time to create whatever you want to bring into your life... do you want to do crafts and quiet activities or do you want to go out to the farmers market and all the free or low cost events around town? I do... I'm 50 and thrilled to be alive and healthier than I was 5 years ago...I was dx'ed with ovarian cancer stage 4...I beat the odds... If you have mysterious digestive troubles or any abdominal aches or the bowels behave oddly some times get checked with a full pelvic exam. this is as important as getting a colonoscopy. catching it early or rulling it out is very important to womens health.CA125 blood test can tell.

to age gracefully one needs to take care of health and eat better and do something to stay active or exercise...also Laughter is as good as exercise so laugh real hard if you can't EX.

Having respect for yourself. Dress Age Appropriately. I don't mean like an old person, I just mean don't try and dress like a 20 year old to make yourself look younger...go to a department store that has personal shoppers. You don't say if you are a man or a woman...if you are a woman, make up is important. Don't over do it. If you are a man, don't go around hitting on women half your age trying to look cool.

Keep yourself healthy, eat right, get some exercise. Don't be depressed about your age, it sounds like you are uncomfortable with it. Embrace it! I will be 40 next year and I am not thrilled about it but I can tell you, my grandfather is turning 83 this year and he is amazing! He looks like he is in his 60's, he has a girlfriend, he dresses and keeps himself in style. He is always doing something. His girlfriend is the same way, she is in her late 70's and she does not look or act it.

Age is in your head, I think. We are only old if we act it. I have people tell me all the time I look great. Just yesterday I was at the grocery store and a girl that was bagging my groceries told me that my hair color and skin tone was perfect together. She also asked me what classes I was taking at the college. She had mistaken me for a girl she sees on campus. NICE! lol It is my attitude I tell ya! Every once in a while I get that train of thought going..."next year forty then forty five, then fifty...." but most of the time I realize the truth... I really DO get better with age! I am doing better at the job I have now than any of the jobs I had when I was younger, I surely know more. I would not go back for anything.

Growing old has nothing to do with being alone or not. I would say that being alone has alot to do with growing old. Work on your attitude about yourself, I bet you won't be alone for long! And by the way, alone is not so bad....I am married now but I remember a few years ago I was unhappy about being alone. I decided to use that time to work on myself. who would want to be with a person who spends all their time whining about being alone?

You will be fine!

Your happiness is your responsibility. Do things you enjoy, take some classes, learn a new hobby. Volunteer at your church to visit shut ins or deliver meals on wheels. Make some new friends. There's nothing like a group of 50 something women chatting over coffee. I'm 52 and this is the best time of my life. I'm single and have many close friends and family that I love. I date and enjoy it, but I like having my own space and not having to make my bed if I don't want to.
Cheer up and smell the roses....WE are never really alone God is always with us.

Join some groups that do things you like and hang with compatible people. Go to the theater in a group, go on vacation trips with the group, go to a casino with a group, go on photography tours, join library volunteers, take adult ed classes on subjects you never had time for. You not only get a chance to enjoy the activities but you could pick up a bunch of new friends to share the fun with.

I think the secret is in not thinking of yourself as being old. You are given a new chance to create reality every day. Therefore, you are always encountering life new and fresh. You are forever young because you are forever changing. The joy is in realizing that and letting go of all fears of where it is taking you.

I have a friend who's mother is eighty. she is awesome. clearly getting old, her knees hurt and she can't see as well as she used to. but she lives alone and still has the holiday dinner parties that most of the family go to which she does all the preparation for herself. she plays golf, is involved in her church activities. travels. etc. it seems like staying active, excercise, etc and staying involved with people seem to keep her graceful and amazing.

Age is not important. You find what you like to do, good friends to do it with and live like you did before 50.
