I don't think so, but it will work the other way around. I think I have tried a PS1 Controller on PS2 and it didn't work, unlless the controller was damaged.

on some of the ps2 games it will work and for some it wont.

Yes it does work with certain games but not with games that require the use of the "sticks" since the PS1 controllers do not have it. some of these games include shooting games, adventure games etc.
