I'm not spouting partisan issues here. I am asking a simple question on a complex matter.

Do you think Democracy is alive and well in the US, at the present time.

Give it some thought, and explain your answer.

Hell no. ppl are afraid to speak the truth. And when they do hold rallys against the current dictator it is NEVER covered in the press...even when they(the press) are told in advance they won't even cover us as a novelty story...Waukee IA RAGBRAI (the week long bike ride) REFUSED to let Iowans for sensible priorities have the parade float like display and Free Ice cream.because it was too controversial...$5000 dollars donation and $8000 in free ice cream and they said NO???

Plus there is corruption all over...In IA there is the CETEC scandal where a few people gave themselves huge bonuses and the books were designed to make it hard to see how much they were paid..!/4million a year is way too much.
also the dallas county sherif has just been ordered to be fired for theft and other charges...as the evidence lockers have many missing items and large amounts of cash...its a mess...
he swears he did nothing wrong but.....where theres smoke....
so sad...

there are scandals and coverups and corruption and money buys influence...both partys are to blame but I doubt anyone will accept culpability.

I think democracy is practiced here to a certain extent. Sure, people here have more freedom than people in a lot of other countries. However, I do feel that our rights (especially our privacy rights) have been violated in the past few years. Now the police, the CIA, and every governement agency can tap your phone and enter your house without a warrant if they suspect you are up to anything. That does not sound very democratic to me.
