pointillism, or something like that. There is a huge painting done in that style at the Art Institute of Chicago. It's a painting of a group of people at a park.

I think it's pop art. It's a tecnique developed by Roy Liscenstein (if I spelt that right). He tried to enlarge comic pics in canvas size as a form of art.
