I wouldn't bathe a cat. They usually keep themselves very neat. It boggles my mind how a dog can stay out in the rain, play in puddles and swim in the creek, but have a fit when having a bath. I think they feel insecure because the tub is slippery under their feet. My best answer, is take the dog to Pet Smart and have them groom him!

Just as every person is different, so are pets. Some enjoy bathing and swimming and some don't. One thing I do know is that I would hate to bathe in cold water from a garden hose. Do you?

If your dog likes cold water it will take to bathing easy. If not try warmer water.

As for cats. They don't do anything we want them to. They are masters, we are here to serve them. (I have 3 cats, so I write from experiance.)

dogs and cats have a certain smell on them. When giving dogs and cats a bath, you are wiping away this smell and giving them another smell that's not their own. Cats also don't like water..but dogs do..it's just that you are destroying their smell that they like so much. and as you know, the nose is a very important part of a dog's life.

I would never try a cat, but my dog adores baths. He always tries to jump in with me in the shower. I think he likes the warm water.
