There are soooooooooo many questions here about homecoming. What is it? Homecoming from what, jail? A football game. Why do they make a king and queen for it? I really don't know and am 42. A US citizen even, grew up here too. Please help.

Homecoming in schools is a tradition where older alumni come back to cheer their alma mater on. A king and queen is often elected by the school body and is largely a popularity contest. Often there is a dance following the game. It is fun for the students, and also for those past graduates, who perhaps also played on the team. I have seen football and basketball homecoming celebrations. Nowadays in this politically correct society, the celebrations are often called fall homecoming or winter homecoming rather than mention a single sport. It's hard to believe that you could have missed a homecoming if you were born and raised in this country. Why are you asking this question now?

When I was a French teaching assistant in Kalamazoo College, there was a Homecoming in October. It was the day when former students come back to their old school and give money to thank the university for their training. It's an important day when the university raises funds.

it's a once-a-year high school dance that comes after the football team finishes up the season..i believe. it's usually in october..our's is this coming saturday..a week from now. Fancy dresses...okayish music..pretty fun..
