No not all people but there are some that will always do things with strings attached.

The trick is first recognise that a certain action is to one's advantage. Then secondly to act.

all the time in every circumstance. even people who do terrific acts of bravery for someone or something they don't know will tell you they do it because they couldn't live with themselves afterward, not because of the person they helped etc.
it is human nature; we are beast controlled by our senses, and we cannot help but be egocentric
