Goodwill has a car donation program. Don't know the details of how to apply but have seen the commericials here in Georgia. I'd go ask about it, worth a shot.
Keep the faith you will be ok.

Here in KY we have several organization for women who are leaving abusive relationships. They help you find housing and transportation and will make sure you get government assistance until you're back on your feet. But first, I would contact your local legal aid, an agency for people with legal problems and no money, to file legal separation documents. If your husband has a car and you have children together and they are with you, the courts will make him give you the car. Good luck! I know how hard it is to start all over again! And you should be commended for getting out of that situation.

Rita,
Hire an attorney, and she will help you get the money you need! I went through a divorce not long ago, and a friend loaned me the money for the attorney. Once all was settled, I was able to pay the friend back. Since a marriage is a legal contract, you need someone who has the legal advice to assist you in getting on with all of your life!

You can try renting a car or talk with family members and see if they can help you out.

Take his car. If he has an alcohol problem he doesn't need to be driving anyway!
