Was the movie fools rush in based on a true story?

Yes. I am a big Matthew Perry fan and watched the Oprah show the day he was on there talking about it. They had the actual couple on the show and talked to them about it. Of course, Hollywood dramatized it a lot, but there are a few scenes in the movie that happen as it happened to them...such as the snake scene with Matthew. I know there was more but can't think of any...and I can't think of the couple's name, but it was 10 years ago and unfortunately I don't have photographic memory. Hope that helped.
