Nicola i agree with ya, i was sterilised last year and was also told like you it was not reversible on so many occasions b4 i had it done. NHS money shouldn't be wasted on things like this it should be put to caring for sick people.

No, sterilisation is an elective procedure. They chose it, live with it. And while we are at it, IVF on the NHS for these people shouldn't be available either. I had to go private to get sterilised, the NHS considered me too young and wouldn't do it. 10 years later I have never regretted that decision, mainly because it wasn't a spur of the moment decision. Perhaps they need to make sure every candidate is aware of what sterile means before doing the op, and make it clear that it will not be reversed for free if they change their minds.

No, definitely not.
Before someone opts for sterilization, he/she is always informed about the limitations of sterilization operation. that includes the fact that,
1) reversing the operation is not easy, not cost-effective and there is no guarantee that the patient will conceive after reversing the operation.
Hence reversing the operation is a waste of tax payer's money. You should think very carefully before taking the decision to undergo Sterilization operation.
However, you can always undergo this operation in private. It costs you a fortune and no doctor will give you a guarantee

No i think that if you have been sterilised and want it reversed you should pay privately.
I'm very much of the opinion that all the info is available so once its done its done.

no i don`t think so. i was srerilised in january and was told by no means they would reverse it. you are told before you get it done that nhs will not rverse it. it is a big decision to make but if you go for it and are sure that`s what you want, then you can`t just change your mind.xx

If they were sterilised for a good reason, then I wouldn't think that they should.
If sterilised for a good reason, then maybe they shouldn't have it reversed. I would need to know more facts of why it was done in the first place.

the NHS is struggling enough, hardly at the top of the Needed 4 Health reasons.
4 fear of offending I'd say yes.
but if I really didn't care, I'd say NO!
They should Pay 4 it themselves & leave NHS funding 4 sick people.
