I've used them and I take them just as seriously as the horoscopes in my daily paper. (Not at all.)

I have used them extensively.
They are a wonderful training wheel in learning that the Infinite Worlde is hyper-holographic (each part contains the All).
The tarot are generally based on the esoteric meanings of the letters of Hebrew (there will be some dispute over this, I don't care: I know what I believe, and as I am the one speaking it should be obvious that I am saying that these are my beliefs), with which the Creator commanded everything to come into existence.
Did you think He spake without using a language?
Was it more likely to be 'Let there be light', 'Fiat Lux', or 'BeRA'?
That's why and how Tarot works, by the principle of resonance. I admit that it isn't linear or normal, but it really isn't all that creepy....

I have on many occasions used the tarot as a form of divanation before I perfom magick. My experience with the tarot is good. I would frown on spending money for readings. Real mystical occultists dont try to take all your money for such things. Instead of paying 78 dollars on a reading take that money and buy a deck yourself w/ the book and get to work. If you dont feel very psychic that is ok there are many rituals you can do to enhance that. give me a email for more info

I've used tools of divination - including tarot cards - for over twenty years. I read professionally. Yes, they have helped me on countless occasions, and I help my clients with them as well.
The cards are best in the hands of a psychic who has worked on developing their gifts - although there is no magick per se in the cards themselves, symbols do contain power, and give the world of spirit something to communicate through - and with.
So even in the hands of a untalented reader, I have been given good readings sometimes because the world of spirit chose to speak through the cards, and through the reader.
So much like a Oiuji or spirit board, when we open ourselves to the spirit world, and focus our will, the universe can answer.

I've been reading with them for some time.I have collected several different decks.I have noticed that certain decks seem to be more accurate than others.I am not sure why this.I have also noticed that certain decks ,always seem to give certain kinds of outcomes. Some of the newer more artistic decks don't seem to have much accuracy at all.I have read somehwere that this has to do with the symbolism of the imagery used and its connection with the subconscious mind. The Rider-Waite deck seems to be the most accurate. It is also one of the most widely used.

I am not sure if I can answer a question with a question, but this just makes me wonder if there is anyone out there that reads tarrot cards that would really do a good reading with them for me? I use to have a program on one of my computers that had tarrot cards and I thought it was pretty neat, but lost it and now don't know where I can get any good free readings at, does any one else?

I've been reading for about eight years. I don't think the cards do the work; it's all the person reading them. I've had success with them mostly due to a lot of study I've put it on the subject, as well as related subjects (the Qabalah, Jung's archetypes, etc.). It also takes some learning on how to connect the cards (and sometimes seeing what's not there), as well as developing a sense of intuition, going with your gut feeling, and being familiar with the symbolism of the decks you use.
ETA: I also refuse to read for myself and rarely for people I know well; I prefer reading for strangers, especially if it's over the phone or the internet. I don't like my judgement clouded by preconceived notions.

I sort of think tarot cards are like horoscopes -- just for fun. However, there is a website called http://www.lotustarot.com that will give free readings, and once in a while the stuff said seems dead on. Maybe it's just because it is so general. Who knows.

As long as you believe in their "power", tarot cards can help guide people in decision making. It's best if you learn to do the cards yourself as the true works is being able to connect to your subconscience to affect the cards that will be shown.
However, if it's all a joke to you, they probably won't work. Plus, what they show is neither clear nor destiny.

tarot cards... you can choose whether to believe it or not...
to me, i have used them and i thought that they are quite useful... not in the sense of prediction of the future but to roughly tell me how to associate my problems with the situation i'm in and to take the relevant actions...
but so far, i would say i totally believe in what the cards have to offer because even if they dont answer my questions, they will show other aspects of life...
there was a few times i did several readings for my cousins and sister... they told me that it was accurate to a certain extent and some of the meaning of the cards they dont understand... well, they can choose to heed the advices or not to heed the advice... it's up to them and yourself... destiny is within your control...
tarot cards is just like a religion... if you believe in a certain religion, you would believe that it's true and it will be beneficial to your life.. just like tarot cards... if you choose to believe it... you will see the cards executing their powers... if not, then you are probably just attached to the drawings of the cards...

tarot cards are the ancestor of modern playing cards, played a substantial role in the courts of kings and queens,,,Jung who was a symbolist an astute Austrian psychologist and researcher of the mind, and soul and on a quest for enlightenment often used them with his patients in therapy..they are comprised of countless symbols that can provide insight into consciousness as well as behavior...they originated in medieval Italy..and evolved into many artistic interpretations...i prefer the robin wood or Morgan Greer deck as they stay close to the original symbolism...are exceptional from an artistic perspective..and are a positive deck...Edward Waite was a Christian mystic who developed a deck widely used and from which many decks are based...insight relating the symbolism to the symbols in your life a useful and spiritual tool of insight...into the subconscious mind,,,
