A friend texted me recently and asked...
"It is a well known fact that elelphants can't jump..But what i want to know is exactly how far and how high can Rhinos and Hippos jump?"
I didn't quite know what to text back...any ideas anyone?
(Amusing answers as well as serious ones gratefully accepted! :) )

(Ps, i know these animals are not pets but i couldnt find the correct section!!)

Rhinos and Hippos jump in water all the time.

I don't think they are into jumping like gazelles. Rhinos just plow straight through things rather than go around and Hippos prefer water ballet.

The question reminds me of Fantasia, the first truly modern animation movie by Disney.

elephants can't jump becuase of their weight and that they ACTUALLY walk on their tip toes all their life... No way to get the mommentium.
I can't say anything else about the rhinos and hippos i just love elephants.

Tried to find out unsuccessfully about the rhinos and hippos... text back and ask her about kangaroos and emus....neither can walk backwards

of course not they weigh a lot and is immposible to jump because of their size. hippos live in water.

yeah really... what's the deal here? i am pretty sure something with that short of legs and that much mass can't jump anywhere.
