there are these bunch of evil galactic criminals from all over the galaxy and they are imprisoned and sent to earth on a fleet of DC-10s where they are all bombed to death by nuclear bombs.

later when humans evolve the spirits of the dead aliens possess them, and you must pay large sums of money to an organisation who brainwash you in order to exorsise the aliens and anyone who criticises this organisation is threatened with serious litigation.

What do you think, can I make money with this idea?

Yes - it's very visual. Why not turn it into a graphic novel first? Can you draw? If not, do you have a friend who's a starving artist? Turning it into a visual medium will help you fine-tune the narrative line and focus details and character.

Go for it, and make enough changes that it doesn't seem too much like a "Battlefield Earth" ripoff. It's ok to use other people's ideas if you make them your own. Look at how Jane Austen's book "Emma" was turned into the movie "Clueless."

Ronald Bard? Like the Ronald Bard who teaches Psychology in
Bayport, NY? Or Northeast Media Group's Chairman/CEO? Are either of them portly former freemasons?

How quickly can you type? Lol
Now your idea is public, a thousand and one ideas could be created.....Look for advice but don't give away too much for others to steal before getting ready to submit to a publisher and even then you should have a copy, self addressed (registered if possible) and '''you''' keep in a safe place unopened. It is a great way of protecting your intellectual property even the new author.

Your idea sounds imaginitive-I see the hero hasn't been mentioned, good start at least that hasn't been given away, you may want to change the plot slightly now....race ya to the keyboard ;) ;)

Only kiddin', but think about what I said, and protecting what is YOURS!

Very similar to a Star Trek Next Generations episode. Why Data was possessed didn't make since. The litigation thing is a different plot device. I like the scifi genre, but Scifi meets, law and order doesn't float my boat.

No, you could probably not make any money off of this idea, because you would be sued by the Scientologists and those that hold rights to the writings of its founder. But, if you are just joking, and I think you are, its pretty funny. Well played.

But if they are all bombed to death with nuclear bombs then we are too aren't we. Are we mutants?
I'd read it. Don't get too legal though keep to the sci fi angle and you got a winner.

Sounds like a facinating idea, but I hope you make it more exciting and readable than your question.
