Really good question.

I think that if the worlds major religions decided to stop poverty they could do it almost overnight.

The vaticans treasure trove is so far out the otherside of priceless its obscene. Turns out that jesus actually liked to see rich fat preists and poor starving children..........

If all the money in the world was divided evenly among all the people of the world, within 24 hour there would be rich people and poor people. This is because "poor people have poor ways". Poverty is a mental thing much more than a social thing...

Stop buying cheap imports for a start. I don't mean you personally I mean the country as a whole. Eat local produce. Turn your heating down. Don't buy a new car every couple of years. I sound patronising. The money you save, send it to a needy family and spread the wealth.
What ever you do prises will rise, forcing more people into this trap. And the rich will get richer.........

Good Government. Plain and simple. The food is there and used as a weapon. Build dams and use irrigation, plant food and become vegetarians. Read about a man who made worm beds. Inside a green house and after selling the worms had this really rich soil. Sprinklers, so started to plant food he and his wife liked.
It wasn't long until he found he could grow food the year around.
In the end of the article he grew everything they ate.
It was an amazeingly small area and it was counter height so it was easy to plant and harvest. None of the weeding and tending he hated. Using short or dwarf varietys, patio tomatos, etc. Make everyone grow there own food.

By eliminating programs that allow people to live in poverty generation after generation.

By focusing attention on education in this country, making it hard as hell to sue a school, instituting school choice now.

By legalizing drugs, thus preventing an avenue of income for people that choose to not get educated. They can only sell the drugs making thousands a week if they remain illegal.

What we need to do is look after our own country first.

Take care of our own poor before worrying about Africa and the like.

I know this is quite a hard view but no1 has to come first.

Prevent the rampant capitalism that is prevalent in virtually all western civilisations, remove the corrupt from power, allow me to rule the world, benignly of course.

It'll never happen because too many people are power and money hungry, and even if we did remove them from power, someone else would come along and take, with military force probably, what they wanted.

Nothing. There will always be poor.

If you took Bill Gates 40 billion and spread it around like communism it would amount to $6.67 each person and then Bill Gates would be poor.
