Make an Astrodrome or a Spaceport, out of Styrofoam using paint.

Buy some space toys, and buildings and put them up. Some of the thing can be made out of Legos.

Aerodrome is an old name for the present day air port.

Astrodrome would be like small space centre, in 2000, they were going to have one in Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA. Space travellers would land and take off from such port, sooner or later we will need quite a few of them all over the world. This is in view of the fact that, more and more private funding is used for space endeavours.

Russian are parasuiting their space capsulles in remote area, however with GPS systems and auto pilots parasuite landings are geting more presis, so a well equipt, recovery, Spacedrom is a definet thing of the future.

What about asteroids? It is a current topic and has been in the news lately, and is on everyone's mind. The asteroids are mainly in a section of space way past the planets known as the "Kuiper Belt". Here is an article about it:

Since you don't like to work in clay, why not do an asteroid from the Kuiper Belt using a baking potato? They look similar, and if you can get one with enough pock marks in it, so much better!. Several on a hanging mobile would demonstrate how asteroids can cause so much concern if one was knocked out of orbit and hit earth, like happened when the dinosaurs became extinct.
Here is a link about this:

Have fun with the project.

You could use styrofoam balls for the planets and paint them and so on, suspend them from a frame of some kind or have sticks coming from the Earth ball or something like that. Or you could use paper mache.

Hi. You might want to keep it simple and use a painted ball to represent Mars, say.
