I bought a used computer from a business, and it runs on Windows XP Professional. I have an account with limited access, but I want to be able to use an account with administrator privelages so I can install hardware / software, ect. I do not know the password or anything for this administrator account.

um.. I think you need the password for it, if their isn't one, you should probably create a new user and make it an administrator.

About the only two options you have, is to go back to the business you bought the computer from, and get the password.Or format the computer to wipe all the info off of it, and re-install Windows XP (that you will have to buy). Then make yourself the administrator.

There are a few options open to you as said you can ask the admin for the password.
failing this you need xp to reinstall and then make yourself the administrator.
or format the hard drive and reinstall a different version of windows.
if non of the above then borrow a copy off a mate and reinstall that.(but thats illegal only one copy of windows per machine).
hope this helps.

You have to know a little bit of Linux to make it work.
Just download auditor boot cd or Hiren boot cd and burn to an CD. And when you boot that it shows a list of options. You can select Reset Windows Password and you can reset your admin password.

But the simple trick is

Just install WinXp again

Have you tried logging on to the machine's administrator account? The administrator account password may well be blank.
