few days ago i went to see my doctor coz i had mmm nipple discharge (milk) and my period wasn't regular. turned out that my milk hormones are very high and to regulate everything in my body i should take "the pill" as a medication. I'm 19, not sexually active, planning to get married next year. will taking the pill effect me? im still not sure for how long i should take it but what i know is that i should take 1 everyday (half of it in the morning and the other in the evening)
thanksss in advance to all of you who answered :)

The reason why you have been prescribed pill is not to avoid unwanted pregnancy. You may be having high levels of a hormone called Prolactin. It is secreted by the pituitary glands. This hormone is responsible for milk secretion from your breasts. If uncontrolled, this can produce Galactorrhoea-Amenorrhoea Syndrome. Your monthly periods may stop and you can also become unfertile. Just to make sure that you have normal and regular periods, your doctor has prescribed you pills.

the pill is not dangerous. it's also used to regulate your hormones, not just as contraceptive. the only question that strike me is why would you take it half in the morning and half in the evening? did your doctor tell you to do so? because the pill should be taken once a day and at about the same time each day. please clarify with your doctor. and as you said you will be getting married next year, if you want to be pregnant early after the wedding, just stop taking the pill atleast a month or two before your wedding.

Depends on what your doctor prescribes you. The pill is just a dosage of hormones. Do look up the side effects of your pill online. They effect different people different ways. I've never heard of short-term use having any permanent side-effects, though. I was on the pill for 5 months before i got married. It gave me nightmares and panic attacks. I haven't used it since! :-) My sister used it for 3 years while she was married and still in school. She never had any bad side effects. She quit using it 6 months ago and just found out she's pregnant. :-) Talk to your doctor and your mom.

the hormones in the pill can cause clotting of the blood. Clots are serious....if one slips away to your brain you could be in a wheelchair the rest of your life OR dead. Clots are more common in older women BUT consider the risks, they're serious. I almost died from the Nuva Ring which has the same hormones as the pill.

The pill is not dangerous. Look up your brand online and check it out.

However, it does often decrease sex drive. If you are newly married and don't feel attracted to your husband like a newlywed should be, try going off the pill and see what happens.
