I helped with a carnival that came to our town, not knowing that I was going to get paid, I just did it for fun, and at the end, just before they left town, the guy gives me $200. Alot for a kid that is only 12. That was fun.

I was sent by my father to the Employment Exchange when I left school and I managed to create a good enough impression to be given a temporary job as a clerk at the Employment Exchange. It all seemed so easy then: you turn up, you dazzle them and instead of sending you off on interviews elsewhere they simply have to have you themselves! If only life had continued like that!

My first job was walking a West Highland terrier for £5 a week. I did this for a good couple of years I think and it was great. On one of our walks we even saw the Beverly Sisters in matching trouser suits :-)

I was 10, pouring vinegar through a funnel into bottles at a little wholesale warehouse down the road from us, it was stinky and put me off vinegar for life but we got half a crown every time we helped out so it was worth it.

It sucked. I worked at Burger King for 3 months when I was 15. I couldn't eat because the smell of flame broiled whoppers disgusted me so much.
