The complaint voiced in the question is not restricted to US but is as relevant in India also. In historical times Indian music flowered in times which are more or less peaceful TheRajas and Maharajas had Musicians attached to the Durbar who had all the leisure to devote themselves to their art. Life also flowed calmly. In today's world of hectic activities hardly anybody has the time to devote to music. What goes under its name is loud noise(Rock music). In India they are trying to dev elop what is known as Fusion Music by incorporating some west into east. Also despite the explosion of facilities all round the t empo of life itself has become so speedy that they just want a hit and run music. Nobody has the time and also the inclination to attend nightlong musical concerts.

Kids just want to listen to music they can relate to. They're hormonal, so that's what drives them. My husband makes great attempts at getting his high school students to look at music critically and select music of worth. I'm rambling.

Because Us youth have more issues to deal with, music is a minor thing in our life in todays world and is only there for us to really relax and chill out. we have so much on our minds we dont have the time or energy to think about how much better music should be or how they need to make music, music changes, people change, technolgy changes everything changes and if you dont like it, dont listen, thats what i do, back when music was importent in your days, you didnt have as many issues to deal with, all i can say it, get with the times dude..

Popularisation of culture, peer pressure to be mainstream, the exclusion of deviants. Very few people today have good taste. Revert to the eighties music, but not the culture.
