I don't know an exact formula but I have spoken to enough of my customers to know that your bill will increase $ 300-$ 600 a month depending on the size of your pool & the size of pool heater purchased. 1CFH of Natural Gas is 1,000 BTU. 1 BTU is waht it takes to raise the temperature of 1 pound of water 1 degree.
Check out the link below. They sell the most common type of heater.

It depends upon where you live. If you live in Michigan, you probably can't afford it. If you live on the Gulf Coast, it's within reason. Again it depends upon how hot, and how frequently you want to heat the pool. I have a 20,000 gallon pool, and I live south of Houston. In February, if I choose to heat the pool from ambient temperature to 70 degrees, it will increase my bill about 20-30 dollars. That's not unreasonable if you want to host a party or for a special occasion. On the other hand, if you want to maintain the pool warm throughout the entire winter months.......

if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.
