They always told me that it takes about 2-3 hours for something to get into my breastmilk if i eat something spicy. To be on the safe side I would pump and dump 4 times. Depending on how long it takes your body to digest and produce milk. If I were you I would even wait until the next day to breast feed because I'm so scared of giving my son something that could harm him, but that's just my oppinion. It seems more trouble than it's worth... maybe you could drink non-alcoholic drinks while nursing (virgen mixed drinks, beer without alcohol, etc.) I understand though cuz while I don't drink I have problems with caffiene and spicy food... My baby hates after if I don't pump/// good luck to you

Depends on what those 3 drinks are. Last night i pumped because I was having a beer. I had one beer and I nursed about 3 hours after that. Don't know how much to wait after stronger drinks though

Edited to add: Elizabeth I disagree. You can breastfeed even if you have a couple of drinks. You can smoke, drink, have fun as long as breastfeeding is first and no harm is done to your baby. Of course it's better not to, same as formula feeding, but if you're going to drink, do it responsibly. A mother deserves to go out and have fun once in a while.

You need to wait 4 hours after finishing drinking for the first drink, then add 1 hour for each drink afterwards. So for 3 drinks you should wait 6 hours after you finish drinking. Pump enough ahead of time for what feedings will be missed. You do not need to pump and dump after drinking, the alcohol will leave your milk just as it does your bloodstream.

Guess what! Alcohol is NOT stored in breastmilk. When I had my first son, I was so scared if I had one drink that I'd pump and dump a few times, just to be sure. I've talked with my doctor about it, and the occasional drink night doesn't hurt. but it does decrease milk supply. You don't have to pump and dump. I'm not saying go out and get toasted, but to go out and enjoy yourself with a couple isn't bad. Be sure to feed your baby right before you go out, so he's nice and full. :D

im not totally sure how long but about 3 or four hours after you stop drinking should be ok. you may want to pump and desose of that particular batch of milk if you are feeling uncertain. use some frozen brest milk instead if you have any.

After two to three hours the mild has made its way through your system. Drink water too so it will help keep you hydrated. If you want to express the first feeding you can, but after three hours it is out of your breast milk.

It depends on what you consider a few drinks. My doc told me if I didn't drink enough to get drunk than it wouldn't transfer enough through my blood stream to effect the baby. But if you're worried about it then pump some out toss it and feed your baby =) Either way.... your baby will be fine don't worry too much about it.

Considering alcohol stays in the system for at least 48 hours...and three drinks (or a few) could mean 72 hours, you might want to discuss your drinking with the pediatrician.
