The Wii has backwards compatability meaning it will play games from it's previous console. It has a controller port for 4 GameCube controllers, 2 memory card slots, that stuff. Meaning it plays 50 cm GameCube discs and Wii discs.

The Wii's main slot, and the only game slot, is able to process Wii games (12 cm) and GC games. (8 cm)

The ports for the controllers and slots for the memory cards are located on the top when standing up and on the left when lying down. (The latter depends on which way it is lying down.)
