I am assuming from your question that you are ingesting sufficient iron, but you are still anemic. Have you had a complete blood count? All of your blood cells are normal and in the right proportions? Next thing to check is whether there is bleeding in your digestive tract, which is the next most common cause. If your anemia is severe and accompanied by other symptoms, further testing may be warranted, but there are many causes, ranging from auto-immune diseases like celiac disease ( an auto-immune disease which affects the intestines ability to absorb nutrients) to thalassemia (a genetic disease of malformed hemoglobin most commonly seen in those of mediterranean descent). In some of these situations too much iron is much more dangerous than not enough iron. You need to trust that if dietary changes are not helping then your physician will steer you in the right direction as there is only so much that you can do yourself.
