One teacher assigned the book Word Power to build our vocabularies. Talk about a sleeping pill! But I put the Reader's Digest, which I enjoy, on the desk, and read two pages alternatively in each--back and forth, back and forth, to break up the boredom. After several study periods I was done, and got 100 on the test. The next highest grade was 37.

On the other hand, what's wrong with Americans that they think academic subjects have to be made into a game? Studying is work. So is sweeping street, picking strawberries, hoeing potatoes and so forth. I've learned several languages just by resigning myself to the fact that some things are worth doing even if they aren't as exciting as a video game. Language learning is a good example. Everyone is looking for an easy way, such as "going to the country where it's spoken." Well, I live in a country where Russian and Ukrainian are spoken, and I only get better when I study them. Otherwise I stay at whatever plateau I stopped at.

But setting a goal or deadline, and graphing your progress, at least gives you a challenge to work toward, because otherwise one of Parkinson's Laws applies: Work expands to fill the time available.

Make games out of it!!! The games you make will all depend on how old you are.. IF you can make a song out if it. that will be great! Flash cards maching game. and there are plenty of online learning games.. You can also study with the though of a reward when you are done. Like going out and seeing a movie or something you like to do!!!

IF you can find a way to reward your slef then chances are you will want to learn so you can get that reward!~!

Remind yourself that if you don't study and get a good education you'll be working your butt off for peanuts the rest of your life. That oughta do it!

Good luck.

studying really sucks at times... I made flash cards and that really helped. It's more involved and it's easier to study by yourself with them.
