I found something at walmart. It is just a tray thats got sticky stuff on it. I've used it before and it works really well. They step on it and they can't move. You can maybe set enough of them to where it has to step on them to get through or by. good luck

Rat poison takes a few days to work, (so that if a child eats some, there will be time to save them). The rats have to eat the poison several days in succession, so put a lot out. I'm amazed that they would pass up peanut butter. Try relocating the traps and put a small amount of PB near the trap and near the hole. Once one rat has found you, many more may follow the urine trail to your home. Never leave any food out, not even a piece of pop corn on the couch. Rinse beverage bottles after use. If you have a dog, the rats will come for it's food. Not all cats are good ratters. You need a good farm cat, but they are hard to live with, and may tare a hole in the wall to get at the rat. My neighbor had dogs and rats came for the dog food. Luckily the copperhead population increased between our houses. The down side to snakes is I got bit and lost a finger. But I still prefer the snakes to rats.
Good Luck.

Well it has to be eating something besides dry wall. If you can find an open space or heck make one close to where you think the rat is. Mix cornmeal and quik drying cement (dry) together. Leave some down near the opening Make sure to leave a bowl of water nearby. Instant rat statue- No chemicals that will bother pets and children- Rats are smart, it may have gotten wise to the peanut butter traps. Good luck

I would get a Cat. and change the Bait in the Traps. Rats don't like Peanut Butter. Try some Sharp Cheddar Cheese.

i would NOT put poison out,.. the poison will cause the rat to seek water then the rat will go back home (into your walls) die and stink very bad.
I would try to locate a small,.. very small hole in the wall where I thought the thing was coming and going from,. and I would set a small trap (your choice catch and release or a snap trap)
--for a small rat entrance hole, look under cabinets around pipes that go thru the wall, there is usally enough space for a small mouse to get thru
bait the trap with a very small sliver of fat from an uncooked slice of bacon,.. the critter in the wall will not be able to resist and will more than likely be in your trap in less than 30 min

The answer to your problem is either you need to borrow a cat or get a cat. Even the scent of a kitten will make a rat leave your house.
You probably have a wise old rat.

you are gonna have to open a hole in the wall or find how the damn rat got in and call an exterminator. other wise you can buy poison and put it in the peanut butter! hahahaha. if the rat eats it it will dye.
