From computer to computer, it's FREE. A friend of mine talks to his son at college in Bejing almost every day for free from Connecticut.

I dont have skype but ihave the tesco internet phone, and that is free and i know that skype is very similar. It is free to call other users of the same service so if someone you know has skype, you could call them for free, but if you want to call other places that requires actually money, you have to add that onto your account seperatley. There should be an option to add credit. Also you can have more than one of these providers on your pc, so you could have skype, tesco internet phone and others and use them all.

Skype is a VOIP program.
You can make phonecall PC to PC for free and you can call any phone number from your PC for a small fee.
I use it to call my friends in the USA from Italy at a very low cost (0.18 cents per minute), while a standard phonecall would cost me ten times more.
In my opinion the audio quality is excellent, but you need a broadband connection (DSL or Cable and up)
Actually both Yahoo and MSN offer a similar service.

It's free as Yahoo MSG or hot-mail. You can make free video calls from PC to PC, but if you want to contact anyone on their mobile or land lain you have to pay small charges and can phone anywhere in the world.

Hi. I have Skype, and it is only free if you only phone other people's computers and not their phones. If you call their phones, you have to pay. I don't know how much though. To get an account on it, though, you don't have to pay anything. It is wicked. And there are no pauses in your calls.

I have not used Skype.

I have used Yahoo Messenger... For free PC to PC calls... and

PC to another country calls.

Its very cheap

Calling from USA to Australia ... 2 cents per minute.... I call from my PC to a local number in Australia.

I am very happy with the result.

Depends on what you are using it for. I use it....There are no charges for using it for voice chat over the internet. Calling other phones have associated charges based on destination country.

The service is very good and reliable.

none if you plan on using it to call other people that use skype also.
It is great for long distance calls and such.
I think the charges arise when you try to call a land line phone etc ...
