Foley's committee assignment gave him special privileges. He got to look at child porn under cover of outlawing it, and visited a nudist camp in Florida so he could see whether they allowed teens to be naked.
Worse yet, the Republican House leadership knew at least 6 months ago that Foley had been trying to seduce high school boys, yet they kept him until the ballot until he was finally exposed by the media.

Hypocrisy is the single evil which Liberals are pleasing in simple terms perfect at keeping off. do no longer forget, that's in simple terms the professing a ethical concept, yet no longer training it. Liberals profess no ethical sure wager, and do something they desire, so they do no longer seem to be hypocrites. Conservatives profess some morality, so, on each and every occasion they fail to stay as much as what they profess, they're hipocites. Hypocrisy is in simple terms cool which skill, it makes a sin of attempting to no longer sin, and great thing approximately now no longer even attempting to be virtuous.

ABC News reported yesterday that it had interviewed Foley, 52, about excerpts of instant messages provided by current and former pages under the age of 18. ABC reported that Foley, under the AOL Instant Messenger screen name Maf54, made repeated references to sexual acts and body parts. Foley's spokesman did not respond to a Washington Post request for comment on the ABC report.
Foley's resignation was startlingly sudden. He was a respected House member cruising toward a seventh term when ABC News reported Thursday that he had sent brief, chatty e-mails last year to a boy, then 16, who had been a House page. In them, Foley asked the boy's age and what he wanted for his birthday. He requested a picture of the boy and told him that he had just finished a long bike ride and was going to the gym. ABC reported that the boy forwarded the photo-request e-mail to an unidentified congressional staffer and wrote that the message was "sick sick sick sick sick."
In 2003, Foley faced questions about his sexual orientation as he prepared to run for Sen. Bob Graham's post. At a news conference in May of that year, he said he would not comment on rumors that he was gay. He later decided not to seek the Senate seat to care for his parents

Hypocracy is hardly exclusive to any one political party. It is part of the human condition. At least he did the right thing, and resigned right away rather than deny, deny, deny, then be proven wrong in court, like so many of them do.
I accept more of the democratic party's stances on issues, but politicians of all stripes have to sell their souls to get and stay in office, it seems.
