I have the offer of a really great part time job on sundays in my local town (i'm 15). its well paid, convenient and shouldn't take too much time out of my social life. but i still have this problem - i can't bring myself to apply properly. its like i'm scared of the commitment. anyone got any ideas on what i should do?

You are on the edge of the precipice of adulthood, and you are reminded of all the expectations of full adulthood will bring. The way to get there and do so effectively is one step at a time, and this sounds like a golden opportunity.

Are you afraid you will not be accepted if you apply? Could this be fear of rejection? Or has the job been essentially "promised" to you?

I got my first part time job at 14 and it was nice in that I had some discretionary spending money, far and above what others got for allowance.

Ask a parent or adult to help you fill out the paperwork, not an unreasonable request for a first time job applicant.

Best wishes.

the worst part about jobs is having to go find one. If you have a chance at this one, go for it! You've got a lot of years of work ahead of you. Just put the nervousness behind, and make a good impression. It'll only last about 5-10 minutes, then you'll know if you have the job or not..

once you get your first job, anything else will be easier, you might be really nervous.
