We got a decent car for $300. If you look around you can find something. Usually a neighbor or a friend is the best bet. Don't go to a car lot. the want ads are good. You can check out the way the person lives by going to their place. If the yard and house are maintained well you can probably depend on the car. I don't know if you ever watched The Andy Griffen show, but they have one episode where Barney buys his first car from the little old lady who just drove it to church on Sunday. So I guess you takes risks in buying anything used.

No. I've bought a car for cheaper in the past and got at least a year of driving out of it. Make sure u have a male w/ u b/c that is the quickiest way to get screwed if u don't. Many car dealers take advantage of women. This is coming from experience.

If you shop around, and can do minor repairs yourself, you can get a safe car for $1000. Look for older, UGLY cars that are being sold by private sellers. Have the car checked my your own mechanic and see what repairs are needed, and then decide if it is a good deal for you.

Usually, yes. It is hard to find a safe and reliable car for only $1,000.
