Let's take each on separately shall we:

Johnny Depp is the hottest and underrated actor right now since his sequel to the Pirates of the Caribbean is the top grossing movie of this year and all-time is ranked fifth or sixth . When I mean hot I mean he is the best actor of this year (and not how he looks). Plus, he is so versatile and could argumently be put up with such great actors as Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and my personal favorite Bruce Willis.

Brad Pitt is so involved in Angeline Jolie that it is more of a media issue than an entertainment issue

Tom Cruise also in the same boat since he got fired from Paramount this month. Personally with his off-the-wall antics of the past several months he just slowly losing his fan base.

I haven't ever really liked Tom Cruise all that well, he was pretty good in "The Firm" and a few others, and Brad Pitt is a nice piece of Eye Candy, especially when he had that beautiful long hair and sporting the Cowboy hat in "Thelma and Louise", but I have to say I adore Johnny Depp, very versatile, good looking and talented, and a nice guy too.

I would have to say Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp is a fantastic character actor, but can also play serious roles such as Whats Eating Gilbert Grape, Finding Neverland, Secret Window, Blow, etc. The characters that Johnny Depp has played are wonderful - Jack Sparrow from the Pirate movies, Willy Wonka, Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Ichabod Crane, Cry Baby, etc. I truly believe he is one of the best actors of our time.

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are also great actors - but they are not much of character actors - nor can I really see them having the capacity for it.

Better how?Look wise,actor,personality,what?I dont know any of them personally to answer that anyway,but look wise its a close tie between Brad and Johnny.Acting wise, I think all 3 are pretty much equal.They've all played a wide diversity of roles.Maybe Johnny Depp has played more different kinds of roles.But Brad Pitt is also a great actor[I dont care what he does in his personal life]and Tom Cruise has been around for decades.He too has done a lot of different stuff and is good at it.

Johnny Depp is the best by far he is such a versatile actor, I mean if u offered one of tom cruise's roles to Johnny eg. MI he would be able to do it justice, and if u offered one of Brad Pitt's roles to johnny eg. Meet Joe Black he would be able to do it justice once again, however if u offerd brad and tom one of johnny's roles no way in hell would they be able to pull it of i mean really can u see brad and tom doing movies like edward scissorhands benny and joon finding neverland crybaby and pirates justice and making the role something significant, they cant do it cause their acting is limited to action movies wheras johnny can do all types of movies he proved he can do action in once upon a time in mexico so tht proves he can play anyone of bradd and toms roles but they can never in their wildest dreams play a role like johnny's and do it justice cause johnny is a one in a million actor.

And he's better look-wise.
