Was the documentary "The Last Dragon"?

There are many "mythological" creatures that may have existed far back in the history of man, but have now been consigned to "folklore" because of lack of scientific methods of recording at the time of their extinction.

Even today many people think that the "Dodo" was a myth, but in fact that last one was shot in the 19th Century.

Unicorns... horses with a horn... not entirely unfeasible..

Manitou have been mistaken as mermaids

and dragons... some kind of flying dinosaur that finally went extinct perhaps in the middle ages.

There are still creatures on the Earth today that even predate Dinosaurs..

All stories and myths have some basis in reality. That's how a myth is created. The fact that their stories are found across the globe instead of one centralized area is telling because someone has to get the story from somewhere. For example, a Brit is not going to get the story from an Asian when they don't even cross paths at any point, but yet dragons are part of each's folklore.

Also, before the world at large was Christianized during the Middle Ages/Renaissance, people were very open to what folks today would say is strictly fantasy. So it's very possible that people did see dragons in the flesh, but when the Church took over and started dictating people's beliefs, they were told not to believe that certain beings existed and so those creatures disappeared into myth. That's why kids are able to see them, because they haven't yet been conditioned that it's taboo to believe in such a thing.

Stories about dragons go all the way back to about 3000BC.,ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. They are found in just about every ancient culture and all over medieval Europe. I have even read someplace that images resembling them have been found in cave paintings.I'm not sure which ones though.A friend of mine has been doing research on dragons origins for a website they are doing.I have been helping them,so I know a little bit. What we can't seem to find out though ,is exactly where and when they originated. If there was no truth in the reality of these creatures, then how can the myths be spread all over the world? Ancient man didn't have the internet. So there really wasn't any mass communication going on.

most of the tales come from folklore the most recent truth comes from the komodo dragon
The Komodo Dragon lizard, discovered by the West in 1910, is the world's largest lizard and can grow up to three metres (almost ten feet) in length. Average lifespan is around twenty years. They live on a small number of Indonesian islands, including the eponymous Komodo Island itself Given their size, Komodo dragons are not built for a long chase - however they can sprint at up to 20 kilometres per hour (12 miles per hour) for short periods of time. Their hunting strategy is thus to sit quietly in one spot waiting for something big and tasty to come near.
If the Komodo lizard's prey escapes yet it is bitten then it could still become dragon food; the Komodo's bite is toxic to other creatures.
a full size pack can also devower a average size man in 20 to 30 seconds

Real Dragons and symbolic Dragons both exist...
Merlin would have said that Dragons represent the primal forces of nature(as do the Chinese), some of those so - called Dinosaurs are actually Dragons... Birds are distant relatives don't you know, birds have no teeth, so to help them digest their food they have to eat gravel/rocks to help break down food in their stomachs, Dragons had to do this too, and some of the rocks Dragons eat break down in the gut releasing Hydrogen gas, which is lighter than air, which explains how they are able to fly. Hydrogen is also flammable, which explains the breathing fire thing(They had to control their altitude by adjusting the amount of Hydrogen in them) ...
There is more truth to Dragons than "They" want you to know...

Dragons originated from lizards, some being very like the described dragons: poisonous breath, horns, large, wings, teeth, horns that kind of thing. Also the skeletons of dinosaurs were thought to be that of dragons a long, long time ago.

Personally I take the view that most of these Dragon myths were created to explain the discovery of dinosaur bones, at a time when science was barely out of the womb.

Of course there is truth to these myths and stories. However, the truth of these stories is not necessarily that of the world you view externally, but rather that of the ideas they represent. Ideas ranging from vices, fear and raging destruction to virtues, nobility and grand creation.

I don't know but have you ever heard the story of Merlin (Myrddin) and the red dragon (Wales) & the white dragon (England). It's only myth but it makes for a nice bedtime story.
