I am in Mechanical Engineering and taking Quantam Physics this semester. I like both of them. but I think physics is more easier then Engineering. Physics is based on the theories if you understand them once you r good. In engineering Though you understand the theories you have to partice a lot. Engineering require more mental toughness. But it depends on what you like to study . So i think the answer of this question can be different for different people.
It was a good quesion though.

Physics is a science. Experiments and conducted and formulas are developed to describe the way the world works. Engineering is the application of science. The formulas developed by scientists are used to build things.

Neither one is more difficult per say. They are just slight variations on a theme. They both require mental toughness.

There are much more meaningful questions:

Which is more difficult for you?

Which interests you more?

What would you do with either?

Why does it matter? If both interest you, keep learning both until you need to make a choice or until the choice becomes obvious.

I made my choice of physics. Then I changed to engineering, where I still used the physics. Now I'm doing physics more because it interest me more right now. You can go as far as you're capable in either or both. They are highly complementary. A background in one is very helpful when pursuing the other.
