Mine does that, some glitch. I close it, and gently squeeze the thing, front to back, jiggle the memory stick and the connection. Probably wishful thinking, as it does not work every time. Time to get a new one, for both of us, I suspect. VERY annoying.

If it's not completely black and you still see a faint image of the desktop then your backlight is going bad. These generally have to be replaced by the manufacturer. There usually aren't any local repair shops that do this work unless you live in a large city.

It is in hibernate. Most computers now do that to save energy when not in use. check duration of energy saver by right clicking on desktop and chosing properties,go to settings and change duration(ex:5 min to 55 min.)
