Well, the pros are:
almost no maintenance costs or time (in shop)
much smaller fuel cost than gasoline or even hybrid
no emissions, of course
a really cool looking car
no need to go anywhere just to fuel the car
the ability to go "toe to toe" with high end exotics on the road

the cons are:
it takes a few hours to completely charge the car (some cars as
low as 2-3 hours for a complete charge)
potential for recharging on long trips
car has only two seats

These are the basics. There would, of course, be getting used to the behavior of the electric powertrain instead of a gasoline engine and transmission, but that could be either a pro or con depending on your opinions. Some electric car owners have even built banks of solar panels to charge their vehicles, but this only works well if you live in sunny areas, the closer to the equator the better.

The PROs of electric cars:
--Very low operating cost (almost no maintenance, electricity very cheap)
-No gas stations. Fuel overnight at home.
-Enhanced durability. Electric motors last a long time. Keep your car a couple of decades if you want to.
-High trade in value (because of above)
-Very quiet. Electric motors make no noise.
-Superb acceleration. Electric motors have much better low-end torque, and accelerate better that comparable-power gas engines.
-Very low pollution (power plants emit far fewer pollutants per mile than a gas car does, because of the higher efficiency of EVs.)

The CONs of electric cars
-Limited range. Old tech electric cars may only get 50 miles per charge. New tech EVs can get about 200 miles/charge.
-Recharge time. You have to remember to plug your car in overnight, or else wait several hours for a charge.
-Expensive batteries. Old tech batteries have to be replaced every 3-5 years, at about $1000. New tech batteries may last for a decade or more, but instead add $10000 to the price of the car.
-Limited top speeds. Electric motors have great torque, but can be damaged by high speeds. So many EVs only get up to 70 or 80 mph.

High price doesn't have to be one of the CONs. There are inexpensive options for EVs. Here's a guy who converts old 1980s gas cars into new electric cars for a living:

Prices start below $5000.

The tesla itself does not emit pollutants, but what do you think is going on at the power plant producting the electricity that powers the vehicle? Yep, emissions of greenhouse gases, plus sulfur which causes acid rain, and mercury, which causes a myriad of neurological problems for mammals. Or, if (God forbid) it's a nuke, you've got deadly nuclear waste being produced that we have nowhere to store safely for its several thousand year lifetime.

So there are two "cons" to any electric vehicle.

There is currently no such thing as a zero-emission vehicle. This notion is a myth propagated by the people who stand to gain from the sale of what they call zero-emission" vehicles. Someday, when all the electricity on the planet is generated by solar, wind, tidal, or other "free" sources, maybe then we can build zero-emission vehicles. But as long as it takes even one drop of oil or one lump of coal to produce or recharge an electric vehicle, it is not zero-emission.

pros: Good for the environment.
cons: You can only go so far before you have to recharge. I don't know if it's the tesla, but some electric cars only go 30 miles...
