My best advise would be for you to find people through other networking sites (Friendster, MySpace, Craigslist, OKCupid, etc...), and if they make a connection, give them your Yahoo messenger name.
Don't use Yahoo chat. It sucks.
(Of course, unless you want to buy porn, which I wouldn't recommend.)

It would be difficult, if not impossible. There was a person reaching out for a friend a couple of weeks ago, and I so much wanted to be his friend. In his situation, he really needed one, and I'm pretty good at being one. But without releasing your identity to the world, I don't know how to achieve it. I'd like to be your friend, too. I don't have many either. I have one best friend, and I couldn't possibly ask for more that her. She'd walk through hell barefooted for me, as would I for her. I wish I could help you, but I just haven't found a way to do it.

basically yahoo chat rooms are for losers and bots, so not worth your time.
Instead spend the time putting together a GOOD Yahoo 360 page, and then those with the same interests can find you.

it is not easy to make friends on yahoo, most people on there are looking for people of opposite sex to (cyber) with, and if try contacting a female just to have someone to talk to about daily stuff, usually they will think you are just wanting to hook up... prolly it would be easier to make friends doing this than other wise on yahoo, most of the people i talk to on yahoo are my relatives, b/c you really never know if what the other person is saying is true, you have to be careful..... good luck to ya!
