Its quite obvious that the population would lessen. This may, or may not be a good thing. Remember when China first had the policy to have as many babies as possible (the Baby-Boom), then when the government reformed they told everyone to have one child only. So these new kids grew up having like 10 uncles and aunts and ended up having their money going to elder pensions

So economically, restricting baby production is bad. If youre concerned about space, well, theres still loads of it outside majorly-conjested cities. If anything, humans should have 3 children each and the gene pool needs a good mix. Europe and North America are on the decline (seeing as people would rather have 1 or 2 kids and a fancy house rather than more babies) whilst the rest of the world is on the rise. So, what makes most sense is to get all the "baby producers" into the EU and NA

Obviously it would dwindle. At its present rate it is growing. And the population in China is well over a million...in fact it is well over a billion. And India just passed a billion!!! How dare they crowd us out like that. By the way, I heard in October sometime, the three hundred millionth child will be born in the United States.

Do you see China's population dwindling? It's over one million and still producing.

I believe the population would decrease over time if we were limited to one baby per couple. Statistically the population would halve, one baby for every two people..

I think in countries like China and India, where boys are prized, this policy is potentially very damaging. It leads, not to the treasuring of scarce little girls, but to their abandonment. I was very upset to read about one girl being made to service 6 men - she was treated like a servant. So although it might look good on paper, I think it is going to be disastrous.
