why do people always think you are a Brummie if your talk with a West Midlands accent.

I am from Wombourne, Staffordshire (close to Wolverhampton and Stourbridge)

I take great offence if i'm called a Brummie (no offence to people of Birmingham, nothing against you)

I think I would be offended too, at least you can talk properly in Staffordshire and I think its a fine accent.

the superb thank you to tell no count if or not you have an accessory is to checklist your voice and then play it back. i'm not a Brummie born yet have lived right here for over 40 years and friends in my "homestead" section say I even have developed a brummie accessory, yet i don't be conscious it. when I first heard my recorded voice (collectively as education to be a instructor) i became into horrified by potential of my East Midlands accessory. you do not hear your individual voice as others hear it as your sound of your voice travels on your recommendations (which surely hears sounds) by potential of numerous routes and, prepare, what you hear is rather diverse to the way you're heard by potential of others. besides, what's incorrect with a Brummie accessory?

I'm from Coventrry and when I meet new people from other areas of England,, they always say I sound like a Brummie too. Just one of those things I suppose. I don't think I sound like a Brummie at all but maybe we've got a slight twang in our accents that other people notice. Whatever, it's no big deal - don't worry about it. xxx

for the same reason most people think a black-country accent is a Brummie one, they just don't know the difference

its a colloquial term for people from that area in general - same as when hearing a Welsh accent, people automatically think you are from Cardiff. Try not to be so touchy about it
