That is a women's way of saying you are in trouble, just wait

Sometimes they are too embarrased to share it with you, or overwhelmed with the situation that they can't express it in words.

I am guilty of saying 'nothing' when there is 'something' wrong. I just dont have the energy to go through with it at that moment - because I know it will lead to more 'hummphfffs!'

Goodluck

because they want you to know that theyre upset, and when you ask whats wrong they'll say nothing so that you can keep asking. and make them feel like you really care about what's wrong with them. they probably just want some attention or they feel sorry for themselves. i admit, thats how i feel when i do that :D

He/she is looking for you to say "whats wrong?".Then they can say "nothin".When my ex did this i would say "ok" and go on with my business and then she would get mad because I didnt keep grilling her to find out what's wrong.I got an idea, just tell me whats wrong the first time! lol

Because they are thinking to themselves. There is nothing "wrong" in that. They say nothing because they don't want to share their thoughts.

What do you think? They're probably exasperated, annoyed, mad, angry, whatever. They either don't feel like talking about it, or they're making it obvious that you're the problem or they want you to drag it out of them.

cos they expect you to know whats wrong.thats why they say that nothing is wrong because they are hoping that you know the reason why they are pissed off. which is prbably you if they say nothing...but if you dont know them well and they say nothing its cos they dont wanna talk about it with you
