Absolutely yes anything that causes a hazard, Gas fires and cookers have to be inspected every year. If the window sills are below a certain height they have to be toughen glass. Get a copy of the regs you will be amazed at what is there

I have polystyrene tiles on my living room ceiling and the council hasnt said they are illegal. I think if they are gloss painted they constitute a fire hazard, we paint over ours with emulsion paint.

They only constitute a fire hazard if they've been gloss painted. If they have, get your landlord to remove them.
Don't think it's actually illegal, no.

my landlord took them out as they can be a fire hazard, produce toxic fumes when burnt, and can damage the plaster on the walls and ceilings.

I dont think so, my friend has them in her council owned house, i would have thought if they were illegal the council would have taken them out by now.

i have them in my council house and the workmen have been and rewired the the house and nothing was said they are in the bathroom and toilet ,an inspector came round to inspect the Workman's work and he said nothing. good luck xx

YES...phone landlord/agency to get them removed, they are against health & safety regulations as they are a high risk fire hazzard....do it NOW
