I will vote for André Agassi, since apart from being a great athlete
he is a great entertainer. He has always been an ambassador for this sport and, if not having won the greatest number of Grand Slams on
court, he certainly has the my respect for supporting the poor and
homeless within his possibilities, teaching and caring for them.
He donates to a charity run by his brother and does not
pat himself on his own back for doing so. Thank you André, I wish
there were more guys like you around. I assure you that you will
not be forgotten.

I don't know if I understand the question, do you mean sportsmanship or athlete? If you are asking sportsmanship, I would go with Manny Ramirez, (just kidding). There are a lot of class act athletes. If I had to chose one today I would go with Cal Ripken. If I was going to chose best athlete I would have to say Jim Thorpe who won many Olympic awards back in the early 1900's. A modern day athlete Michael Jordon who could corner both awards of best athlete and best sportsman.

Sir Steven Redgrave, the greatest olypmian ever, 5 consecutive gold medals over 5 games, when people like woods have been the best in the world for 20 years i'll start to consider him.

Lance Armstrong without a doubt. The man almost dies and comes back to rule the world's toughest sporting event for 7 years in a row! Add to that the fact that the French media and cycling authorities have hounded him for years to try and pin drug use on him (without success due to the fact that he is a naturally talented athlete) and you have to ask yourself how he did it? Also bear in mind the amazing work that he has done for cancer and I think you have a winner.

I'm guessing you don't know much about other sports then....

Tiger Woods has dominated golf.....now go and read about what Ali did during his life time...then you wouldn't even put the two of them in the same question.
