I have just got broadband, and I want to change the routers settings to accept port. When i try to use Hyper terminal, i cant login because i dont know the details.

where can i find it?

If you haven't set them yourself, it should be detailed in your router's manual.

Some routers don't actually support telnet, but HyperTerminal appears to ask you for a username and password anyway, however, most do.

The default for my BT Home Hub was:

Username - admin
Password - admin

This was the same for my D-Link router.

The default password for a Cisco router is "cisco". No username is required. The VTY password may have been administratively changed, however, which would mean you may have to use a console session instead of a telnet session.

Usually, domestic routers are configured by a web-based panel, however. Usually the IP is 192.168.1.1 by default, unless otherwise stated in your user guide.

Ummm why are you using telnet? Why not your web browser?
