At the moment it is. They also have a better record for fixing security holes than Microsoft (I think their average time is 2 days, whereas Microsoft is 9 days). DON'T turn off updates ... they increase your security! Do wait a while, though, before upgrading to a new Beta version (or make sure you can roll back if there are problems.)

Now you can get an IE plugin for it, so that you can view pages which are only compatible with IE, I see no reason for using anything else. It's notable, too, that you can now do Microsoft updates in a Firefox browser!

I DO like it. It is the defacto browser for Linux. Firefox has firewall. The only regrets is the Linux version doesn't recognize some of the automatic plug-in installs. You will most certianly want the flash plug-in. You might be surprised there isn't any sound before installing another plug-in.

Best of all. Firefox is a "package" you can download and keep for backup. IE, you need an internet connection to install ???? how dumb can you get M$???

I am the world's biggest firefox fan I am using it now.

Firefox actually has more security bugs than IE.

BUT they get fixed faster and Not as many people are developing exploits for it.

The underlying framework of firefox is more secure (ActiveX etc)

Firefox wins IMHO

Well, I guess it depends on your computer. As far as safe, depends on you. Your gonna need security for which ever browser you use.

Well...in my experiences, it seems MUCH more reliable. With microsoft implementing all these new "security features" to IE, it makes it mess up (or so it seems to me). I like firefox better, like you said...it's faster.
