Ronaldo (full name: Ronaldo Luis Nazario De Lima) of BRAZIL is the overall leading goal scorer in the FIFA World Cup history. he has now scored 15 goals in the finals spanning over 3 tournaments from 1998 to 2006.
he has now overtaken the previous leading goal scorer, Gerd Muller of WEST GERMANY (14 goals) during the round of 16 match against GHANA on Tuesday, 27 June 2006 when he scored after just 5 minutes to set the new record.
Just Fontaine remains the top scorer in a single tournament. he netted 13 times in the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals in Sweden.
Oleg Salenko of RUSSIA scored 5 goals in a single match against CAMEROON during the 1994 FIFA World Cup 1st round Group B as RUSSIA thump CAMEROON 6-1 but failed to reach the round of 16.
