We are having a half white half black baby boy. We want something unique, but not ghetto. And something people can pronounce. Please tell me which you like the best and why. (I am due in two weeks, not much time left to decide) My name is Crystal and the father's name is Joseph. He has 3 kids that are all named Jo-something and he want's to do that with our son too, but I don't want to.
Here's what we have...
Cantrell (can-ta-rail)
Jomari (Joe-mar-e)
Javontae (Ja-von-tay)
Deontae (Dee-on-tay)
Taelaun (Tay-lawn)
Orian (Oh-ryan) (My little brother's name, but he goes by Rian so the baby would still have his own name.)

First of all congratulations and I hope all goes well!!!
I like the name Jomari.. Don't know why it just sounds the part.
If your partner wants to keep the Jo something theme what about JOHN-JO????
If you do not want to incorporate the name Jo, why don't you have something like Orian & Jo for second name.
I know it's hard to agree on a name you both like, when I had my youngest daughter I liked the name Olivia, but my partner said it souned like a brand of butter!!! so we came up with Cassie.
You could always wait until your baby is born then name him, sometimes names just come to us once baby arrives.
Good luck!!!!

You want something not ghetto that people can pronounce? Well, I can't say anything nice about any of them except if I had to chose one of those and these were the only options, I'd chose Orian.

Since you're asking for opinions.... I hate all those names, sorry! :-(
Please remember that a baby's name is not what makes him unique, and the spelling of a baby's name is definitely not what makes him unique.
There's no reason whatsoever to think that a baby called John or James will grow up to be any less interesting than someone with a made-up name like Jaidon or Kory.
Go ahead and pick your favourite name though - good luck! :-)

I think Jomari is very cute. And it can be a comprimise too because for short you could call him JR which gives him his uniqness but he still has a name not so diffrent from his brothers and or sisters. plus i think it sounds good with the last name. hope my opinion hels you out. I have four children i know how hard it can be to pick a name. Her are mine: Bryan(boy), Devynn(girl), Caulin(boy), Aarynn(girl). Well best wishes

I read a study about people giving very "black" or ethnic names to their kids, and how their kids were discriminated as adults looking for jobs.
People with "white" names on their resume were called back twice as often as the people with ethnic names, although the resumes were the same.
Thats something to keep in mind.

I really like the name Cantrell and Jomari. They are unique and wonderful names.
I did the same thing. I wanted a unique name for my daughter. I choose Rreiawna Kaidance Ratliff. (R-re-on-a)
Some people have a heck of time trying to say her name but its unique and my family and myself love it.
Good luck with it all.

If the dad is so hung up on having kids that are an extension of his name, why not combine your names and go with something like Crysteph (Kris-teff). It's unique!
