It's psychological conditioning. When you do something and get stung for it a couple of times, you shy away from taking that risk again.

We all are victims to various levels of conditioning and depending on how much it hurt us the first time around, we will become less and less enthusiastic about putting ourselves up for the unexpected.

I don't even think it's a conscious process, it's sort of an evolutionary protection we build up against new experiences over time. The negative results always remain more powerful than the positives ones. The minds way of protecting us from harm.

Fear is a useful feeling that keeps us from doing stupid things, like standing in front of a hungry lion unprotected. The problem start when the fear has no logic cause, and as human beings we have a natural tendency to create these problems, maybe because of our bad human nature.

FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real!
When you don't quite believe that "All's well!", and still worry that something will surely go wrong, obviously they get in the way of living life fully!
Have child-like faith that NOTHING will go wrong, and nothing will!
What proof is there that she won't drown, when her Dad standing inside the swimming pool encourages her :"Come on ! Come to Daddy! Nothing will happen!" ? No proof. Her faith makes the little girl to jump fearlessly.

They stop us from doing what we really want to do, still some times fear is a good thing because it keeps us from possibly doing some things we should not be doing. Without some fear there can be no freedom.

It is the society which makes us unachieved persons, they are the frame to our behavior , we cant explore our fullest imagination and our fullest strength because of society which sets the rule of the whole, most of the leaders are afraid for their status and interests and they set the rules accordingly so that no one else can climb the ladders
