they're all gr8 and i'd definately recommend them-though i know lots of ppl who prefer the movies-.the first book was an amazing adventure, the second book is an amazing thriller, the third book has a fantastic ending, the fourth book is the beginning of a scary adventure, the fifth book makes you want to read more, and the sixth book is amazing once you find out harry is falling in love with the right girl.you're right. They ARE unparalleled!!!!!

Jeanne Rowlings books are very rich in characterization and environments. Her use of sub plots and interwoven themes is engaging. The books are superior to their movie counter parts, but that is a limitation of the film genre. The poorest of the films in my opinion was "The Prisoner of Azakaban" as the director left out several important story points (e.g. who the authors of the Marauder's Map were, an important point as it establishes the relationships of Potter, Sr, Lupin, Black and Pettigrew). There is a danger when changing directors, art directors, etc in series films. They each feel compelled to put their personal stamp on the work rather than concentrating on bringing the authors work to life in an accurate portrayal.

I agree with you 100% - the Harry Potter books are truly captivating. When I was growing up I also really enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia. They are pretty magical in their own way as well. I can't wait to see how she is going to end the series in the next book. It will be a sad day, saying goodbye to Hogwarts...

I read them a while ago but they are ok .
I would much rather see the movie ...so I did .
It was much better then the book but I noticed they (the director) left out some parts but what can you expect it's already a 3 hour movie . But if you want to read it go ahead and then watch the movie and notice what they left out . Or just watch the movie . LOL (laugh out loud)

The first three were genious. And it's all gone downhill from there. The last book was just horrible... it set you up for a major twist and none came! I was dull and lifeless and full of cliches from the previous book. I was extremely disappointed.

While i agree with you that they are exceptionally good....i dont think they should be thrown into the catagory of being unparalelleled with anything else yet......after all the same was thought of for the JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis books too......
