Actually, that really depends on where in Afghanistan you are talking about. That's definitely true in Kabul, absolutely, but that's not the situation in the rural areas.

Especially where the Taliban are located. Remember them? The guys we supposedly eliminated or forced into Pakistan? They are killing more and more people every day.

Why didn't we finish the job there before going into Iraq, a country with a horrible dictator under Saddam, for sure, but not a threat to us militarily at the time. No WMDs. No links to terrorists under Saddam (though now it is terrorist Mecca). We spend 5 times the money in Iraq that we do in Afghanistan.

Where's the guy who brought down the Towers? Why has the United States military not had a even a COLD lead on his location in TWO YEARS??? And we are now PULLING OUT and passing the buck to NATO? Is that a Mission Accompished like we had in Iraq a while back?

A few girls in the capital going to school is great, but is that the US went in there???? WE STILL DON'T HAVE FREAKING BIN LADEN!!! The Taliban are resurging. President Bush rarely talks about Bin Ladin or Afghanistan anymore... What the hell are we doing over there? Why drain resources from the real threat to fight a war somewhere else?

And are we safer?

In the recently declassified National Intelligence Estimate, the government's top analysts concluded Iraq has become a "cause celebre" for jihadists, who are growing in number and geographic reach. If the trend continues, the analysts found, the risks to the U.S. interests at home and abroad will grow.

"We also assess that the global jihadist movement — which includes al-Qaida, affiliated and independent terrorist groups, and emerging networks and cells — is spreading and adapting to counterterrorism efforts," concluded the estimate, compiled by leading analysts across 16 U.S. spy agencies."

It's okay to be proud to be an American, but not proud of the way the President has led and fought this war! He's completely inept!
