As far as I can see they basically come over and do all the terrible minumum wage jobs nobody wants and pay taxes towards the economyn and most of their wages will go into food and rent again helping the economy.
Apart from asylum seekers fleeing here for safety they usually can't claim any real level unemployment benefits and don't get the full benefits of the health service unless they gain citizenship which is a long and complex process.
It seems without immigrants very few of the worst jobs (production line workers, street sweepers etc) would get done at all and certainly I don't know many native people here who would activly seek this sort of work let alone relish having this kind of job.

Perhaps I am missing something? Why do people hate immigrants? Is it just simple racism?

To be clear - I only mean legal immigrants who are either in the country on a work visa of some sort or are in the process of becoming citizens.

As a Celt (Cornish/Irish) I don't hate Anglo Saxons Boat People, just sometimes they get rude and think they own the place. I'm sure the native American Indians feel the same about those other people in North America (Canada and USA).

Xenophobics (it's not Racism as many immigrants are of your race) do not realise the good that immigration can bring Britain has grown up since the Angeln arrived. They unfortunately changed the name to England but otherwise better. Not one of them had a passport so they're a bunch of illegal immigrants. but they have given us a language that is fluid and capable of absorbing other languages (Latin, French, Celtic, Urdu and German).

Britain has more jobs on offer than ever before.

Whilst I agree that illegal immigrants are worse, many legal immigrants are helping to send out country downhill. They may work, but there are many that sponge and commit crimes too. There are far too many towns now that have taken multi-cultural out of all context...and where an English person has become a minority. You know it's got out of hand where you are criticised for flying your national flag, or where children are being delayed in class, whilst their foreign classmates are being translated to.

I personally think that there should be a ban on all immigrants now in the UK, whether legal or not. Our council house waiting lists are far too long, and even when you get to the top, you don't get the next available house, because in comes an immigrant who needs it more.

I don't think you should hate immigrants, but if you feel you have reasons to, then go right ahead! But equally, hate our government, cos with regards to the terrorist threats of late, where British citizens were arrested...that is no-body's fault but our government, for allowing the parents/grandparents into our country, so they can breed such monstrosities. It's the government's responsibility to say "no more"...but whether that day will come in my lifetime, is another question.

No body really hates immigrants. The problem with ILLEGAL immigrants is situated in a number of factors.when they get locked up and put in jail Americans have to pay for their jail time as we do with any other person in jail. And dont believe the hype when it comes to speculation that immigrants do all the jobs nobody else wants.I worked in a plastics injection molding facility about a year ago and worked my *** off too. When I started I noticed that 1st shift and 3rd shift were mainly white and black but 2nd shift wass all mexicans and only one out of the whole group spoke english so you could tell that the rest was probably illegal.but as time passed i started noticeing more and more mexicans working 1st shift.A few months later we were training a couple of mexicans on my shift and only one spoke english.Several months after that Iwas being told that I and the rest of my shift was being laid off because the price of oil was getting higher and oil is used to make plastics.Well i left my job and went to the unemployment office.Several weeks later i went to the place where i worked just to see how things were going and it was around the time the shift i worked. There was a whole warehouse full of mexicans.Everybody says they take jobs nobody wants but thats bullshit. They took my job.I worked there because I wanted to.But its not their fault its the fault of the company i was working for

Those terrible jobs might have got better for those that rely on them. Instead employers can continue to get away with treating people badly with a new pool of willing workers. Wait until the middle classes get sidelined for jobs as these people move on up. Its not hate its just that life for us ordinary people never really gets easier.

That "long and complex process" is the price one has to pay to live in America. Anyone not willing to go through it should not be here. People do not like ILLEGAL immigrants because they take jobs away from people who have had the fortitude to go through the citizenship process.

well, since the optimum operating figure for our country, people paying taxes to support pensions and the dole, the NHS and other public sevices is 60mill, and our population is just there BECAUSE of the 10 million odd imigrants who come over here and pay taxes, we should be very pleased that they are here. people say that they take the jobs we need and want, but sooo many people abuse the welfare state that britain is, it is untrue. the jobs that immigrants do are the scrub jobs, the ones no-one else wants.

There is no reason why you should hate immigrants unless of course you are ignorant, lack awareness and are ill-informed. I think society creates "others" to make us feel better about ourselves, i.e we can hook all the bad stuff upon immigrants to differentiate ourselves as good and them as bad, I think you'll find people who have negative views of immigrants very very rarely (if at all) have any basis for their views except ignorance.

go into their country and see what you can get. we should help our own people who are on the bread line and stop giving away our taxes to immigrants. have to tried to get an appointment with your doctor lately? you need to know a week in advance that you are going to be sick because when you go to the waiting room it is full of immigrants taking our appointments ( like everything else ) sorry i have no sympathy.

You are supposed to hate immigrants because they are handy scape goats to make responsible for job losses and all kinds of things that are wrong in society anyway.

The people that want you to hate immigrants most are those industrialists that profit from taking their production out of your country and have it done somewhere with much lower wages.
That way they avoid being blamed themselves for the shortage of jobs.

After all I read on this site, they are very successful.

If it is fine to invade other hapless countries and plunder their resources, why should we bother about immigrants trying to make a living?
I know you are not responsible for the invasion, but our views are lopsided. We complain only about the things that affect us badly.
