Among EV aficianados like myself we have what we call the "EV grin." To experience this for yourself. You'll need to get an electric car. Today, and the next few years, are exciting times for electric vehicles. New battery developments have brought about many new products. Examples:

As for the expense, no problem. As long as you don't need the llatest technology, there are affordable electric cars around. Look at this guy - he makes new EVs out of old 1980's cars. His prices start under $5000:

I can't afford an electric car and I'm not willing to go 50 MPH on the highway and have tractor-trailer up my butt.
If/when the price goes down and they make one that actually runs highway speeds, then I'd seriously think about it.

I think they are needed now and they are getting way cool(0-60 in 4sec). yes i would.
check out the Tesla electric.
