It is not legal to sell a kidney but, you can donate your kidney to go to someone particular if they are a match to yours. You can live with only 25% of a kidney function. You just can not sell off body organs to make money not in American anyway.

No, you cannot legally sell your organs, at least not in the US. You can donate them, you can fill out an organ donor card so that they can be used after you die, but you can't trade them for cash.
As for living a normal life with only one kidney, if you have normal renal function then you probably could get along with only one without any problems, but you would be more vulnerable to having renal failure that requires dialysis later on in life or if you had any problems with the remaining kidney.
